Autumn Journal

by Ashten Edens

As I’m lying on the hill in the park all I see is the grass below me and the leaves blowing in my face.

Fall’s almost completely here and the trees are a beautiful yellow. There’s a wonderful fall smell out and I think about the leaves changing from green to yellow and from yellow to red. It’s my favorite time of year. The colors changing and the smell of leaves and grass. The world is no longer green. Soon the trees are bare and your garden has finished growing. It’s time for harvest.

Last Saturday we harvested our gourds which were taking over our garden. It was hard yet somewhat fun. Some were lumpy, some were smooth. Whatever they were they were beautiful and they warmed our home.

Fall is where our world makes its changes as it gets ready for winter.
