Close Your Eyes

Some of my fondest summer memories are the weekends we spent at the cabin. My favorite time of day, no matter what fun activities the day was filled with, was being by myself at the end of the dock right at sunset. I found a calming peace that would end the day on the right note.

close your eyes
feel the warmth of the setting sun
hear the gentle lapping of the waves

breathe in
breathe out

close your eyes
feel the soft breeze lift your hair
hear the loon’s lilting call

breathe in
breathe out

close your eyes
feel muscles relax and all tension ease
hear leaves rustle in the evening peace

breathe in
breathe out

close your eyes

breathe in
breathe out
breathe in
breathe out

Sarah Dayton grew up enjoying nature and literature. Growing up in Minnesota she learned to love being outside by a lake or in a forest. She’s discovered that inner peace can be found easily by just listening to the world around. Recently, she has begun a blog to share more of her writings: withinmyheadblog.wordpress.com
