By Dawn’s Early Light

Technicolor sunrise
backdrops silhouette cypress.
Glowering firmament simmers.
Seed pearl stars, skinny moon disappear.
Royal purple sky seethes with gold,
reveals violet rain clouds.

Watchful ducks rock
upon dark pond,
unruffled, silent.
Pussy willows burst
from drooping limbs
along looping trail.

First light illumines
emerging yarrow,
alyssum mounds,
scurrying sparrows.
Spooked bunnies hide
beneath budding lupin.
