Early Spring: Five Haiku

Snowdrop’s fragile head
Glowing white on muddy earth,
Gray clouds hang heavy.

No sun, rain falling
Relentless cold still piercing
Dismal early spring.

Pale sunshine peeks through
Illuminates winter day
Hearts and spirits lift.

Shy buds peeking pale
Mist of green quietly shows
Softer air reproaches cold.

Wind scooping cold air
Throwing it at earth and sky.
March, roaring lion.
