Downpour empties overhead clouds,
leaves illumined husks
blazing against purple sky
during transient sunrise.
Cypress silhouettes call attention
to celestial fire-play as drifting fog
and stratocumulus merge,
provide a pink and gold light show.
Shape shifters morph, fleetingly glow,
fade to gray, brief radiance erased
by smudged thunderheads,
grumbling, incoming storm.
