Misty Morning

Shredded fog drifts inland,
shrouds damp walking trail,
drips diminutive diamonds
from contorted cypress.

Beach combers materialize
then vanish like wraiths
as billowing mist swaddles
tide pools and shoreline.

Somewhere, morning sun rises,
lifts silvery vapor from wetlands.
Distant geese keen
from within chill miasma.
