Witnessing The Rhythms of Nature VII

by Carolyn Saino

I’ve seen the Mississippi River high and low, but I had never seen it flood the way it did in the spring of 2011. In the foreground of this image is one of the three parking lots for the Mississippi River Greenbelt Park, underwater. I’ve noticed that rivers, like most everything else in nature, have their rhythms. I feel lucky to have experienced one of its excesses of power and drama and come away safe and touched only by deep amazement.
